Learn More About the Golfo Dulce
A rare, fjord-like tropical gulf in southern Costa Rica—where deep waters, rainforest watersheds, and limited circulation create one of the most ecologically sensitive marine environments in the Pacific.
Why the Golfo Dulce Matters
Because the Golfo Dulce is semi-enclosed, environmental impacts can persist longer than in open-ocean systems. That makes prevention, stewardship, and early intervention especially important throughout the region.
Communities at the Front Line
GreenWave’s community connections are centered in Pavones and Punta Banco, Costa Rica—areas shaped by distance, challenging terrain, and limited infrastructure.
Punta Banco, uniquely situated at the mouth of the Golfo Dulce, serves as a quasi first line of defense against negative external influences entering the gulf—highlighting the importance of stewardship, preparedness, and community resilience.
GreenWave’s Role
GreenWave Global Relief Corporation would support community-led solutions focused on the protection, restoration, and long-term stewardship of the Golfo Dulce region.
Once properly funded, GreenWave would strengthen local efforts through collaboration, education, and practical on-the-ground initiatives within the region.
